Book Creator

Book Creator is an iPad App that allows students to make books for any occasion that can easily be printed or shared across devices. Read on to find out more!

App Overview: 5/5 Apples

Book Creator, as its name implies, allows you to create books in several different formats. Once you have picked your format, the options are wide ranging. You could create a comic book with speech bubbles and action blurbs, or type and insert pictures to make the equivalent of a classroom textbook. Afterwards, it is easy to print these wonderful creations, or share them to parent's devices through apps such as Google Drive and Seesaw.

Main Subjects: While you may be tempted to think that this app would only be useful during language arts time, you would be quickly doing it and yourself a disservice. You could definitely use this in math for students to work through and show their work on a tricky problem of concept. They could even create their own book of word problems, such as in the lesson Math Word Problems. You could use it easily in science to document experiments and studies, and in social studies to give historical background on a topic, or be creative with some biography reports. This is one of the most versatile apps on the market, and will probably become one of your staple apps in the classroom.

Ease of Use for Teacher: 5/5 Apples: Book Creator keeps things simple for you right from the start. You can quickly choose to start a new book and visually see the layouts of your choices. Once you've picked a layout, you will see that there are only six options in the top menu. Intuitively, you use the plus sign to "add" anything you can imagine such as photos, video, text, drawings, sounds, and shapes. Once you have added these things, click on them and click the i for information on them. Here you can change things such as font size, color of the object, and even hyperlink something to a real website. There are tons of options here, and they keep adding more every year. You will be able to quickly learn how to use the most important options, and be making books in no time.

Ease of Use for Students: 5/5 Apples: Book Creator is just as easy for the students as it is for the teacher. The small number of buttons really helps students remember what they need to press once the directions are started. Also, in the plus button menu there are small pictures to go with the words so even if your student struggles with reading they can still find the option they need. Students will learn how to quickly change their font and even their page background colors so that their books are unique to them.
